Sketch Prints
Our sketch art collection captures the designs from artists all over the world. Hanging up sketches, studies, and drawings are a great way to add something a little different to your home or office space. Artists from abstract to contemporary have often relied on sketches for a larger painting, but the intensity and detail put into some of these works is just as beautiful as the finished painting. Sketches are not intended to be seen by the public and are often created to rapidly capture a fleeting moment. It’s their way of allowing us into the workings of their mind. There are some artists whose skill with a pencil and attention to detail is immaculate and hard to ignore the talent, like that of the intricate designs of Leonardo da Vinci, whose notebooks were filled with the most extensive sketch prints.
Figure Art Sketches
One of the most popular forms of sketching is that of the human figure. The natural form provides ample possibilities for sketch wall art. For Edgar Degas, who often hung around ballet dancers, quickly and accurately sketching the movements of dancers was vital for his finished work. Degas didn’t sketch paint from memory but relied on the studies he made of the lithe and nimble movements of French ballerinas. Then there was the Renaissance master artist Michelangelo, who created multiple studies of the human figure with such detail that it makes one believe the drawing is moving.
City Art Sketches
The city can provide ample resources for an artist to be inspired by. Sometimes it isn’t the bustling movement of life but rather the elegant structures of the architecture. Older cities, like Prague and Paris, to Rome and London, have a unique iconic look that is hard to resist if you’re an artist with the ability to capture structural beauty. Our collection sketch artwork includes the Eiffel Tower and the river Seine in Paris. Childe Hassam often sketched out his surroundings, including the wonderfully detailed sketch print of Saint Philips in Charleston. Having these ready-to-hang sketch canvas wall art around the house just might have you inspired enough to try your hand out with sketching.
